As a Seller, you are central to providing each of your Buyers with a safe and trustworthy experience on Recess. This policy outlines a Seller's rights and responsibilities and is a part of Recess's Terms of Service.
Sellers are responsible for reviewing and abiding by these rules as well as any applicable local laws. Violating this policy may result in restrictions to your account, up to and including termination, and may be made at the sole discretion of Recess.
It's always free to list an item for sale on Recess.
After your item sells, we deduct applicable fees from the final order price before we remit your earnings to you. Please see our Fee Policy for a detailed description of the applicable fees that Sellers pay on Recess.
Please note, estimated earnings are displayed during listing creation and actual earnings will vary based on the final order price, Seller discounts, fees paid, and any other applicable taxes and discounts.
Recess's marketplace welcomes the sale of most types of new and pre-owned products for parenting with certain restrictions within the category. Please note that not all categories or types of items may be available in your location.
For the safety of our Users, items outside of our supported categories and otherwise prohibited or unlawful items may not be offered for sale on Recess. Please review the Prohibited Items Policy to be sure you know what items can't be listed or sold.
Sellers are responsible for describing items truthfully, accurately, and completely. This includes creating informative listing descriptions that include your original photos of the items and details such as the condition and any flaws or unique features and, when using automated listing features such as the Recess AI listing tool, reviewing the generated listing descriptions and details for accuracy and completeness. The item for sale should be clearly represented in the main photo. Avoid any photo editing techniques that may make it difficult for Buyers to accurately assess the condition of the item, such as collages or heavy special effects.
Sellers must have possession of, and ship, the actual item described in the listing. Sellers may not list a promise for a future item, or ship a "placeholder" note or item indicating the actual listed item will arrive at a future date.
Sellers must promptly answer questions and requests for additional information.
Recess encourages Sellers to view similar items, whenever possible, to determine a realistic listing price likely to result in a sale. Once a Buyer accepts a listed price, a binding transaction exists and Sellers are required to provide the item(s) to a Buyer at that price. Sellers must also fulfill any and all additional requirements as detailed in this Seller Policy and our Terms. Once you accept a Buyer's offer, a binding transaction also exists.
Sellers are prohibited from excessive listing removal and reposting of the same or similar listings. For more information, please see our Excessive Listing Removal Policy.
Live Auction Accuracy. Items sold via Recess Live must be accurately represented on camera. Sellers must display the actual item being auctioned, show it from all sides, and disclose any flaws verbally or visually during the session. Sellers may be billed back for items that are misrepresented during a live auction.
Once a Buyer accepts your offer, you accept a Buyer's offer, you must fulfill the sale.
For items sold through Recess Live auctions, sellers must ship within 7 days of the auction close date.
Live Auction Finality. Sellers may not cancel, modify, or refuse to fulfill orders resulting from live auctions due to dissatisfaction with the final sale price. If there is a problem with an order, contact support@therecess.app.
For live auction sales, payment is released to the seller 3 days after confirmed delivery, provided no dispute has been filed by the buyer — the same timeline as standard marketplace sales.
When a Buyer issues a dispute you must reply to the dispute within 48 hours. If you do not reply within this timeframe, Recess has the right to refund the Buyer. In the event of a refund, the Seller is responsible for facilitating and paying for return shipping.
The following standards apply to all sellers who host live sessions on Recess. Violations may result in session termination and further account action.
Active Presence. Sellers must be actively present and engaged for the duration of any live session they host. Inactive sessions — including sessions displaying a blank or frozen screen for an extended period, or sessions where the host is absent for extended periods — may be ended by Recess without notice.
Shill Bidding. Sellers may not place bids, or arrange for others (including employees, family members, household members, or associates) to place bids, on their own live auction items for the purpose of artificially inflating prices. Shill bidding is prohibited and may also violate laws in your jurisdiction. Recess monitors all bids and will take action on accounts suspected of shill bidding.
Off-Platform Transactions. Sellers may not use Recess Live to solicit or redirect buyers to transactions on any platform other than Recess, including in chat, on screen, or through verbal communication during a session.
Buyer Privacy. Sellers may not publicly share, display, or read aloud any buyer's personal information — including their name, shipping address, or payment details — during a live session.
Session Cancellations. Sellers who repeatedly schedule live sessions and cancel, reschedule, or fail to go live without notice may be subject to account restrictions. If you need to cancel a scheduled session, do so as early as possible and avoid habitual cancellation.
Prohibited Stream Content. Live sessions may not display, feature, or discuss pornographic or sexually explicit content; content that promotes or glorifies hate, violence, or self-harm; or any content that would otherwise violate Recess's Terms of Service. Recess reserves the right to end any session that violates these standards immediately and without notice, and to take further action on the host's account.
