Prohibited Items Policy

Last Updated: August 18, 2025

Recess is a marketplace designed for parents to safely buy and sell gently used kids' gear, clothing, and essentials. To protect the health and safety of families in our community, certain items are restricted (only allowed under specific conditions) or prohibited (never allowed).

We reserve the right to remove listings or suspend accounts that violate this policy. Sellers are responsible for ensuring items are safe, legal, and accurately described.

Medical & Health Devices

Prescription items, over-the-counter medications, or regulated medical devices. Thermometers, nebulizers, or anything used for diagnosing/treating a medical condition.

Illegal or Stolen Items

Anything unlawful to sell, stolen, or obtained in violation of regulations.

3. Recalled & Expired Products

It is the Seller's responsibility to verify that their items:

  • Have not been recalled by manufacturers or safety regulators.
  • Have not expired (especially formula, car seats, or safety gear).

Recess may remove recalled or expired products without notice.

4. Best Practices for Safe Selling

  • Be honest and accurate in your listing descriptions.
  • Clean and sanitize items before selling.
  • Disclose any wear, damage, or missing parts.
  • When in doubt, do not list an item that could compromise a child's safety.
