3 and 1-year old play time - how to minimize conflicts
We have a three year old who absolutely loves his brio train set and all he wants to do is okay with his trains which is so fun to watch. We also have a 1 year old who is figuring out how to walk and play. We don’t have much space so this situation is a bit explosive - our youngest wants to okay with his big brothers trains but isn’t coordinated enough and ends up breaking everything. Our oldest then has a tantrum which then scares the 1 year old. I find that the easiest thing to do is to keep the youngest separated by keeping him in the pack and play while our oldest plays. But I also feel really guilty because I feel like our youngest should be given more freedom to explore. That’s what we did for our oldest when he was that age. But it just is much harder this time around balancing their competing needs. Is anyone with two or more dealing with this? What do you do?
