Infant swim lessons?
Any recs for classes in DC?
Also - what should we be looking for when considering different classes?

I think swimming with the baby is so much fun! I’ve gone through a few cycles of swim classes and I found them to be very helpful. The biggest thing is just getting your baby comfortable and having funny in the water. If you can do that, all the other stuff will come. But if they hate the water, it’s going to be really hard to get them to learn how to float on their back or swim. If your baby is less that a year, classes are more for the parents than the baby. They can’t follow instructions in any meaningful way so you just do things to get the baby used to the water. If I could do it over again I would skip the classes and save the money for when classes can actually be helpful which is around a year or a year and a half. Instead there are a ton of public pools or private schools that do open swim. Figure out what those pools are and go once or twice a week. Last summer I did that and it was amazing. Almost everyday in August I took my son to the public pool a few blocks away and we had so much fun!!!!

@Ethan Arpithis is helpful, thanks! We actually have a pool on the roof of our building (DC life 😂) so that could be a fun start! She'll be 1 at the end of summer so might still consider a class later in the year!
