How to make a schedule with a newborn 🫨
Any tips or personal experiences making loose schedules for your day with a newborn? Our daughter is 8 weeks old and we've honestly been winging every single day so far (lol) but want to start introducing a routine. How did y'all do this?

Routine routine routine!! I know you probably see this everywhere but if you can focus on this for a few weeks then she'll totally get it and it'll make your lives much more predictable! Getting up around the same time, feeding, napping, bath time and bed time...all of it needs to be around the same time every day. I personally wrote it all out to help with sticking to the schedule. It'll require some discipline in the beginning but it's worth it for all of you ❤️ Good luck .. You've got this !

For me, the biggest breakthrough came when realizing that you don’t alway need to immediately attend to a baby that’s whimpering, fussing or even crying as long as they are in a safe place. This is the big unlock for setting a schedule because you’re then able to have allocated time for specific things. So if you have a nap time from say 1-3 PM during the day, you can keep the baby in the crib even if they aren’t sleeping the entire time. Over time, they get habituated to the schedule. And overtime you’ll gain more confidence in interpreting cries so that you know when they need to be tended to vs they don’t want to be sleeping but they are totally fine in the crib. Have you found any sample schedules for an 8 week old?

I've taken a look at moms on call and taking cara babies, but got really overwhelmed! I also am notoriously bad at being aware of time / time spent doing something so schedules are hard!

I found taking Cara babies to be really helpful but only when my oldest son was like 8 months. At 8 weeks old should have wake windows for about an 1-2 hours. Here’s a schedule that Recess put together :) https://www.therecess.app/home/view-post/OxNPCPTNztbsRA6lH1It I think the hardest part is just not losing track of time when you are sleep deprived 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Baby sleep site has awesome sleep schedules. Also we have morning and evening routines that are choreographed to playlists. Everything is automated through home automations and the kids have now associated songs with watching, bathing, and sleeping. It’s also portable when we travel. I highly recommend starting with a sleep playlist, then adding bathing and eating as your routine evolves. It’s so chill and we end bed time on time every single night.
