Toddler swears like a sailor
I was taking my 3 year old to school today and he was riding his scooter. When he hit a bump, he screamed out “fucking shit.” What passed through my head: “What the fuck did he say?!” Of course I didn’t say that. But then later in the day, he was throwing his toys in the air, yelling “oh shit!” I honestly don’t think I swear that much. But if I’m honest with myself I think he must’ve gotten it from me. I’m trying to get him to reign it in. But it seems like a case where the forbidden fruit is the sweetest. How do I discourage swearing while not turning it into a taboo?

I’m sorry for laughing at this but i feel like I can because I had a similar experience recently with my 3yo daughter. She was trying to retrieve a toy that had disappeared under the fridge with a wand (naturally) and didn’t know I was behind her in the kitchen. After multiple patient attempts at trying she let out a big sigh and under her breath goes ‘ahh f*ck it.’ And walked off in resignation. I had to make sure she didn’t hear me laugh
