Volunteering at an animal shelter
My 9 year old daughter loves animals and wants to volunteer at an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or anywhere she can help care for animals. We have called a few places, but they only accept older volunteers. Does anyone know of a place in NYC or Westchester that takes younger kids, or does she just need to wait until she’s older? Thanks!

We donate all our old dog stuff to animal haven. They are a wonderful organization but they don’t allow volunteers under 18. Probably a liability thing since some of their animals are recovering from neglect and require someone with experience.@Madison Lee
- You could become a Wag dog walker and then go for walks with other peoples dogs and take your daughter along. Basically the same as renting a dog except you get paid! But very different vibe if you’re actually trying to encourage volunteering and helping animals in need. Good luck!

+1 to the donation idea here! Social Tees has a whole page on their site with ideas: https://socialteesnyc.org/how-kids-can-help
I LOVE social Tees - I adopted my dog from them and fostered for them when I lived in NYC. They're really great!
