Vaccines
Coming up on our 6 month pediatrician appointment where I believe we will be asked about the Flu and Covid vaccines. Curious on public opinion(obviously doing my own research and will discuss with doctor) but what have your experiences been like?
For context: baby is not in daycare, but does spend time with 2 cousins- both have Flu vaccines. Dad and I both have Flu vaccine already (not Covid yet at least) and he is being breastfed.

I really love our pediatrician, so I fully trust her recommendation, which was to get both. We did flu/covid last year as soon as our daughter was old enough iirc, and then reupped again this year (14mo). Our daughter was totally fine, the covid shot knocked me out more than it hit her lol.

I think itâs a really personal decision. The Covid vaccine has been shown to cause myocarditis and is quite inflammatory. The recommendation is that they can be useful in much older people but are not recommended in healthy individuals. Doctors are also incentivized to offer both sets of vaccines. The Weston A Price foundation has some great info on the topic

Every year our kids have received both the flu and COVID shots. Kids are exposed to so much stuff during day care that getting them protected as much as possible is important to us. We also want to make sure our kids arenât spreading stuff to other kids as much as possible (although this is obviously tough) We worked with our pediatrician and developed are vaccination plan with him. So far so good!

As someone that works in a hospital, and my partner does too, we all vaccinate. We donât deviate from the vaccine schedule and we get covid and flu shots as recommended. Part of it is as a precaution as neither of us wants to bring anything home, but if we do we would all be as protected as possible. The other part of it though is that we work at a pediatric hospital and weâve seen kids with covid induced myocarditis, the flu, and all the other illnesses that go around (RSV, Croup, etc). Itâs not anything Iâm willing to risk my kids getting

My sons Pedi is amazing. She delays vaccines (so heâs not getting them all at once) and she does not offer Covid/Flu. Were able to go to the health dept or pharma to get those.
We will not be doing either for our son-
