Why do so many people go off registry?
I’m feeling really annoyed. I put so much time into building our baby registry based on things that we needed. I did lots of research and made one of those crazy spreadsheets since I’m so type A. But people are just ignoring it. My sister bought us one of those huge SUV strollers we didn’t ask for and can’t use because we have no place to store it. My mom is really crafty and made all this art and decor for the nursery but it’s not how I want to style it. And then my friends just send me stuff that they think I’d want because it worked for them, which I know it’s all meant to be thoughtful, but now I have all this stuff I didn’t want and I’m missing lots of essentials. I’m totally fine selling the stuff or re-gifting it, but then I’ll have to explain why I don’t have things like the stroller. So now I’m in this position of having to have hard conversations with a bunch of people and I’m already stressed out with everything going on. I hope I’m not coming across as a diva. I feel really grateful for everything but also just confused/annoyed. I’m sure I’m not the only person to navigate this. Any advice?

The same thing happened to me. I also don’t understand why people on a budget don’t get together to chip in for one of the nicer or more useful gifts on the registry and wind up giving you a bunch of inexpensive junk you don’t need instead.

I’m guilty of it myself unfortunately before I had a baby, and this is why I didn’t even bother with a registry or baby shower. I think it comes from some people wanting to give original gifts that have thought and meaning. And I think for some moms, they feel they know better than you bc they’ve been through it before. Fact is, you won’t use half the crap on your registry!
That being said, now having been through the FTM experience myself - agree, buy off the registry. It’s not about giving gifts but helping people through a major, expensive life milestone. Give them what they want
